Family and Community Systems Strengthening

Building safer, stronger and more connected communities

Families and communities carry the daily weight of climate shocks, poverty and limited opportunities. When family relationships are strained and community support systems are weak, children and young people become more vulnerable.

Gracious Givers Kenya works with caregivers, families, community groups and local structures to strengthen relationships, inclusion, social support and collective resilience.

Focus areas

  • Facilitate positive parenting programs
  • Convene community dialogue forums
  • Promote gender equality and inclusion
  • Support family strengthening initiatives
  • Strengthen community participation and collective action

What we do

Our work supports families and communities to create safer, more supportive environments where children, youth and caregivers can thrive.

  • Positive parenting and caregiver engagement.
  • Community dialogue and norm change sessions.
  • Gender equality, inclusion and protection conversations.
  • Family strengthening initiatives that improve communication and support.
  • Community participation and local problem solving.
  • Linkages to services, referrals and trusted community structures where needed.

Who we work with

We work with caregivers, adolescents, children, young parents, women, families, local leaders, community groups and service providers.

What we want to change

We want families to become safer, more connected and better able to support children and young people through stress, crisis and recovery.

Why it matters

Strong families and connected communities are better able to prepare for, respond to and recover from crises together. Resilience begins at household and community level.

Partner opportunity

Partners can support positive parenting, family strengthening, community dialogue, safeguarding, inclusion and local systems that protect children, youth and families.
